Bibs in Fashion

When the British Vogue came out with supermodel Kate Moss on the cover of its September issue wearing a toned-down cream trench coat paired with a crystal Zelda bib neckpiece made by Filipina designer Bea Valdes, the bib neckpiece or collar necklace is the new statement accessory to have.

Although the bibs has been popping up in the fashion runways of Valentino, Chanel and Louis Vuitton since the debut of their Spring/Summer 2009 collections, bibs have stretched their fabulous life to this day, as seen in the recently concluded Spring/Summer 2010 fashion shows.

Here in Cosmo Manila, chunky bib necklaces have accessorized the cutest cocktail dresses, basic LBDs (little black dress dahlings!), even plain tees. Pair a bib necklace with your most basic and simple pieces so they won’t compete with your fab neckpiece.

Be daring and wear it with just a structured tuxedo jacket, a la YSL. Think big and bold for your bibs, the more lavish it is, the better! —dripping in sparkle and glitter, embellished with intricate beads, adorned with gigantic semi-precious stones and jewels.

If it isn’t big enough to make a statement, leave it at home.
