Give Charice a Break

The current media fuzz over Charice decision to "fix" something whether its a problem on her jaw or botox treatment courtesy of Filipino celebrity doctor Vicky Belo lets just give her the benefit of the doubt. She has her reason for doing so if she did it for cosmetic purposes in preparation for appearance on Glee or just to boost her ego.

We here at Kpop Portal hope the procedure will make her feel better.

Pangako "Pirated" in Korea

Singer-songwriter Ogie Alcasid is saddened by reports that his composition “Pangako,” which was used as theme song in the movie “Pangako... Ikaw Lang” starring his girlfriend and Asia's Songbird Regine Velasquez and Aga Muhlach, was allegedly pirated in Korea.

Korean singer Jang Hye Jin sang a version of “Pangako” titled “For Your Love” allegedly without permission from Mr. Alcasid. “For Your Love” was in the soundtrack of the 2002 Koreanovela “Glass Slippers,” which was dubbed in Filipino and was shown here on GMA-7.

Ogie explained on talk show “Showbiz Central” how he came to know about the Korean version of his song.

“Yes, I’ve been aware of it. I guess it was two to three years already through GMA Network. I also learned it through Internet and it was also written in the papers. I saw it on YouTube. I don't know how it started but if you will listen on YouTube the Korean version, it’s exactly the same way that Regine sang it. It’s exactly the same way that the original arranger, who is Mark Lopez (arranged it),” Ogie said.

Ogie was so disappointed and saddened by his discovery. All he can say is that we’re bound by laws, international laws and those things should not be done. His publishing company, EMI Publishing is now talking Korean counterpart.

Ogie points out that the international law prohibits somebody to copy someone else’s copyrighted songs.

"The thing is, the world is very small, we are in a globalized world" the singer songwriter added.
