Avatar Extended Version

I was watching the morning news when I saw that Avatar Extended Version (never been seen footages) will be shown again in cinemas. I thought, "With the wild success of Avatar, are they releasing it again to earn more money?" They could just add it to the 2D DVD's Special Features as Deleted Scenes.

But for the huge Avatar fanbase, another 40 minutes is not a problem (who cares if they cannot pee!), added to the 162 minutes of the first released movie, it will surely make them come back to Pandora again and again.

Are you willing to stay in IMAX fore more than 200 mins?

Kibum's Movie, Jumunjin, Will Premiere in January!

**I know you missed Kibum badly, so here's a good news for you ELFs.

Jumunjin, with Super Junior’s Kibum and actress Hwang Bora as its leads, has been slated for a release next year, on the 21st of January.

Directed by Ha Myeong-jung, Jumunjin is set in the Korean city of Jumunjin, with its beautiful scenery as a backing for the story. According to the production team, the movie aims to show that “love is beautiful and pure” through the storyline, which involves a man who lives aimlessly because he cannot forget his deceased lover, and the village girl who loves him in return.

The male lead, Kibum from Super Junior, already has much popularity due to his status as a member of the idol boy band. In [Juminjin], he will play the male lead, who chooses to live like a ghost due to the pain of losing his first love. Hwang Bora will play the role of the curious village girl who is in love with Kibum’s character.

This is the second time the two have collaborated.

I can't wait for the next installment of Twilight Saga "New Mon" but 5 days delayed from other countries? I think that's not a good idea because piracy in the Philippines is terrible. I'm quite sure that pirated copy of "New Moon" movie will be out first before it's release in cinemas. I really think Summit should make it a World Premiere to prevent piracy.

Jang Nara down to 83

We already know how passionate Korean actors on their crafts, but do they really have to risk their health? Another actor is at risk for loosing too much wieght.

Jang Nara (My Love Patzzi 2002) is part of the newmovie "The Sky and the Sea".

According to an NTN reporter, Jang Nara maintained a healthy weight of 99 pounds (45kg) but has recently dropped to 83 pounds (38kg). The real reason is not yet confirmed, if she lose weight for the movie or just to look good. Anorexic beauty is not good for her because she's too tiny already.

Also, Jang Nara's collapsed at the airport after tjeir filming in China. She was taken to the hospital and the reporter shared that "Fortunately, the situation wasn't too severe".

Sometimes they are risking to much. Absurd!

Korea Film Festival Experience

Guess what we did yesterday? We saw the movie Sa-Kwa at the Korean Filmfest at ShangriLa Cinema Complex.

What surprised us ( I was with Karl) was the long queue that greeted us when we arrived at the venue. It was a success because I never thought that the the whole place could be filled in.

Funny thing was, I didn't search about the movies that will be shown that's why while watching Sa-Kwa 사과 I was anticipating what will happen to the movie. I have no idea about the movie Sa-Kwa. Sa-kwa is apple or apology, I thought throughout the movie that something dreadful will happen to Moon Sori (The Legend). Lol! Pardon my imagination. I really thought either Kim Tae-woo (Woman on the Beach) or Lee Seon-kyun (White Tower) was a Psycho who will Kill Moon Sori for because they love her so much. But they weren't.

The story was simple but I like it. Moon Sori’s character is dumped by Lee Seon-kyun after their seven years of relationship. Then met Kim Tae-woo’s character, who had been admiring her for a long time. She gave him a chance and work out their relationship then got married. Everything was well until she was confronted with doubt and worry when her first love returns.

If you are interested to see it, The Korean Film Festival will run until the 29th of the month and be there extra early. The tickets will be given one hour before it starts. Have fun!

The Echo in Philippine Theaters

Kpop-portal is happy that “The Echo” the Hollywood remake of a Filipino horror movie will finally get a theatrical release in the Philippines . Even with the movie’s release on disc in November, we think many Filipinos would still want to experience “The Echo” on the big screen because nothing beats the impact of a film inside a theater.

Yam Laranas said: “I think they will enjoy this new version. It is much scarier than the original. But fans of the original will also see that the original story line is intact. The mood and paranoia though is heightened in ‘The Echo.’”

The movie stars Jesse Bradford ,Amelia Warner, Kevin Durand and Filipina actress Iza Calzado reprising her original role. Being an Asian horror fan and after seeing the original version, I am definitely going to watch this one (in a moviehouse of course!)

Spotlight on Asia at Venice filmfest

The Venice film festival Friday turned the spotlight on Asia as Soi Cheang's "Accident" bloodied the silver screen and Yonfan recalled Taiwan's anti-communist White Terror in "Prince of Tears".

An angry motorist in a Hong Kong traffic jam jumps out of his car to yank away an advertising banner that has fallen across his windscreen. This causes a huge pane of glass to fall from an upper floor, shattering on his head and killing him.

It is one of the murders "choreographed" by a professional hitman nicknamed The Brain in the tense thriller by the Macau-born Cheang, who cut his teeth with horror flicks.

Veteran Hong Kong producer Johnnie To produced the film for his former assistant, who said in his program notes that it was "my attempt to challenge the codes of genre cinema."

"Prince of Tears" recounts the brutal White Terror in Yonfan's native Taiwan in the 1950s as he was growing up.

"I heard, I felt and I saw what I showed in the film," Yonfan said of the web of intrigue and betrayals that led to the summary execution of more than 3,000 people suspected of spying for the mainland communists.

"It's a story about my childhood. I think all directors want to do one at some point, and this is mine," Yonfan told a news conference.

Screened out of competition on Friday was Werner Herzog's action-packed "Bad Lieutenant: Port of Call New Orleans" starring Nicolas Cage and Eva Mendes.

The cop flick set in the Big Easy has nothing to do with Abel Ferrara's 1992 cult thriller "Bad Lieutenant" set in New York, Herzog insisted.

Nevertheless his fast-moving, zany non-remake involves a police lieutenant investigating homicides who is addicted to drugs and gambling.

Cage's performance of his deranged character is at times hilarious and so credible that Herzog said he had to be reassured that he was not snorting the real thing.

The German director of "Grizzly Man" (2005), asked at a news conference whether he had cut a deal with Ferrara for a remake, insisted again on Friday that he had never met Ferrara or seen the film.

"I hear he's here, I hope he sees my film and that we can meet," Herzog said. "We should meet up soon over a bottle of whisky."

When Ferrara learned of the project he told the Guardian online that Herzog and company "should all die in hell."

On Saturday, US filmmaker Michael Moore unveils his latest documentary "Capitalism, A Love Story" targeting the world financial crisis.

Moore's work is among 24 selections competing for the Golden Lion award at this year's Mostra, the world's oldest film festival.

"It's got it all -- lust, passion, romance and 14,000 jobs being eliminated every day," says the Oscar-winning Moore, whose past targets have included President George W. Bush, the US health care system and the gun lobby.

The world's oldest film festival, in its 66th edition this year, has already courted controversy since opening on Wednesday, with movies on Romanian immigrants to Italy and the nation's TV-celebrity-power nexus.

Alessandra Mussolini, granddaughter of the Italian dictator, threatened to sue the makers of a film that claims she wants to have Romanian immigrants killed, while public television's decision to ban the trailer of "Videocracy" backfired triggered a marketing bonanza for the film.

Taiwanese film-maker Ang Lee, the Oscar-winning director of "Brokeback Mountain," heads the jury of this year's festival, which runs to September 12.

Online Bootleg of 'Haeundae' Angers Korean Film Industry

The Korean film industry is seething after a copy of the blockbuster "Haeundae" was found being illegally distributed over the internet last weekend, especially since the film had galvanized the industry by becoming the fifth Korean film ever to draw over 10 million viewers. Public calls for strong legal action against piracy are gaining support, but it might be too late to stop the spread of the bootleg overseas as it is already circulating on Chinese websites.

"Haeundae" was leaked online to a Korean file-sharing site on Saturday morning, according to CJ Entertainment, a major investor in the movie and its distributor. It spread quickly and by Saturday evening copies were available for download on most file-sharing sites, the company said. CJ had identified 24 sites where "Haeundae" was being circulated by Saturday, while police found over 160. It is estimated that the film has already been downloaded several hundred thousands times in Korea alone.

The bootleg is identical to the screen version with a DVD-quality image. It seems to have been uploaded by someone involved in the film's production or distribution.

By Sunday evening "Haeundae" was available on Chinese websites. The film was released in over 600 theaters in China last Tuesday and in eight U.S. cities last Friday, and the bootleg is likely to threaten its theatrical success in these countries.

"Pirate DVDs of "Haeundae" will be on the market in China by Tuesday, and you'll be able to find them on the streets of Bangkok sometime this week", said an official at CJ Entertainment. "Realistically, there is little we can do to fix the situation".

The film's director Yoon Je-kyoon said, "What kind of a film buyer would import a Korean film for theatrical distribution when a pirate version is already available? Aside from affecting the film's box office success, it will be a huge loss to the Korean film industry trying to export films".

Illegal trading of content over the internet is a crime subject to a maximum of five years in jail or W50 million fine (US$1=W1,249).

Kim Myung Min will make you cry your eyes out

"Closer to Heaven" trailer was released and people where shocked on Kim Myung Min's body. As a nutritionist myself, I was bothered. To sacrifice your body just for the film is just wrong! But I give him two thumbs up and a standing ovation. He lose 20kg to look really wasted. His passion for his craft is undeniable.

I can't seem to move on from this movie. After seeing Myung Min gave a fantastic portrayal as a Lou Gehrig's Disease patient, he will shake your mind and heary not just in his acting but in his physical appearance as well.

I like Myung Min from the series "Wanted Perfect Family" and to see him do this role, I definitely recomment this movie. Get ready with your hankies and watch the trailer.

It's coming soon on Korean theaters this month.

Yoo Seungho is now grown up

Yoo Seungho ("The Legend" and "Queen Seon Duk") is know grown-up! He was launched as a grown-up lad on the coming film "Busan".

Also at the movie are Kim Yeong-ho and Go Chang-seok. Busan's poster caught a lot of attention, because of Yoo's image.

Synopsis: The story of three poor men who live terrible life and are 3 generation of the same family. For saving his own son Jong-cheol, Kang-soo (Go Chang-seock) is searching for his own father Tae-seok (Kim Yeong-ho) who has been hiding from him for 18 years.

The movie also focuses on Busan local dialect. Different from same types of movie as "A Love" and "Friend", "Busan" focuses more on the theme of family. Also "Busan" can be considered as "Father" and "Mountain" in Chinese characters so the meaning of movie "Busan" is about father love and family love.

"Closer to Heaven"

This is one heck of a sad movie. I've seen the trailer and it almost made me cry (gosh!).

The story was about Ji-soo (Ha Ji Won), a funeral director, happens to oversee the funeral services of Jong-woo’s deceased mother. Being old friends, they are excited by the unexpected reunion, but the reality is more bitter than sweet. Jong-woo (Kim Kyung Min) is suffering from the incurable Lou Gehrig’s disease, and Ji-soo has been through two painful divorces. Jong-woo lightheartedly asks Ji-soo to just marry him. Ji-soo is surprised by the offer, but it doesn’t seem like such a bad idea to her. She wants to start a new life with the love that is starting to grow inside her, while the fear of losing Jong-woo scares her as well. Despite the disapproval of those around her, Ji-soo still goes through with the marriage to Jong-woo. As Jong-woo’s symptoms beginning to worsen with each passing day, Jong-woo gets easily irritable as he begins to lose control over more and more parts of his body. Even though he hurts Ji-soo’s feelings, all she wants is to stay with him and cure his disease.
