Last night, GMA7's Kapuso mo, Jessica Soho featured Filipinos fascination over Kpop, from "Koreanovelas" coined from Korean novelas or dramas to the now popular Korean music which is gaining audience on the airwaves.
The program showed clips videos of 2NE1, Super Junior, Wonder Girls and other local stars dancing to Kpop hits, the Cebu dancing inmates as well as clips of Jessica's previous visit to Korea. The Filipinos love for music was shown with people from all walks of life singing the chorus of Wonder Girls' Nobody, since it is the only English line that can be understood.
They also featured Filipino fans going to Korea to watch concerts and the girls flocking to Korean KTV Bars singing Kpop hits with some of them studied and learned how to understand the language.
Filipino Netizens may know Kpop but after Sandara "Pambansang Krung-Krung" Park made it to Korea's entertainnment industry, kpop is now booming in the Philippines. The program emphasized that "local can be global" as what Korea has proven to the world.
