Wonder Girls to release Mandarin album

K-pop quintet Wonder Girls formally foray into Mandopop with the release of the “Best Collection” CD-DVD album in Taiwan on Feb. 12.

The album will include the Mandarin versions of “Nobody,” “So Hot,” and “Tell Me” and 13 other songs and music videos.

Taiwanese radio station FM92.1 UFO has started playing the Mandarin version of the hit song “Nobody” on Feb. 1.

However, the Wonder Girls will be promoting the album without Sunmi, who will leave the group by March to continue her studies in South Korea.

JYP Entertainment announced Sunmi’s withdrawal from the group last Jan. 22.

"It was such a valuable and happy experience for me to take part in the performance tour to 50 cities in the United States for the past year. But I came to wonder whether I should live like this," news agency Agence France-Presse quoted Sunmi’s statement in a report.

Sunmi quit high school last year to focus on the Wonder Girls’ activities in the US.

Four of the girl group members quietly went back to South Korea last week to meet Hae Lim, who was announced by JYPE as Sunmi’s replacement. Sunmi was left in the US to prepare for her final activities with the Wonder Girls there.

The Wonder Girls are also set to launch their English album in the US this February. They will also perform at the Valentine’s Day concert of Canadian pop singer Justin Bieber at the Hollywood Palladium in Los Angeles, California.

Lim, who is fluent in four languages including Korean and Mandarin, was scheduled to debut as the newest member of the Wonder Girls by joining the girls last Feb. 2 in Guangzhou, China, for an activity.

Fans have expressed support for Sunmi and challenged Lim to show that she is worthy of being a member of the Wonder Girls

See You Soon Mimi!

JYP Entertainment announced that Mimi (Sunmi) of Wonder Girls has decided to choose her academic path and set aside her career at the moment. Not bad really, but thinking that she let go of a career that will give her fame and fortune, unbelievable!  She sacrificed her career for a bigger and longer success.

Can't Sunmi wait a little more?  Even Emma Watson did not leave Harry Potter for acadamics and gave a little more time to finish the series.  After the last installment she will finish her studies.

Very few Asians can make their names known  in the American maket and Wonder Girls are there already, fame is right under their noses.  Thumbs up to you Mimi!

JYP Entertainment said,
“Mimi had a truly memorable, once in a lifetime experience while living in the U.S. and touring over 50 cities. We support her decision to pursue an academic career at this time. We will also support Mimi if she chooses to return to singing after her academics are complete. In the meantime, she plans to frequent JYP facilities and continue her dance and vocal classes.”
Mimi will remain with the Wonder Girls in the U.S., continuing with any scheduled performances and activities until the end of February. As of March, she will return to Korea and prepare to focus on her studies. JYP has named 17 year old Lim as the newest member to the quintet. Lim has gone through extensive training at the JYP Academy for three years and is fluent in four languages: English, Korean, Mandarin and Cantonese.

New Wonder Girls Member - Hae Lim

Hae Lim is the new addition for Wonder Girl

Replacing our dear Sunmi. Hae Lim is a trainee under JYP Entertainment and is currently 17 years old. She is born in Hong Kong, but a Korean at heart. She is fluent in 4 languages, mainly English, Chinese, Korean and Cantonese.

Let's hope Wonder Girls can continue to bloom even after the departure of Sunmi.

For me she's not that pretty, NOBODY can ever replace Sunmi in our hearts.  I can't imagine Hae Lim with the rest of the Wonder Girls. Gosh!

Wonder Girls are so funny, especially my fave Yubin making fun of JYP while working on 2PM's "Heartbeat" back in their Jonas Brothers Concert. I was like ROFL with Yubin's complete facial expression and gestures while the others can't help themselves giggling!^^

Wonder Girls’ Sunye Throws Ball in MLB

Sunye, a member of Wonder Girls Sunye, a member of the South Korean pop group Wonder Girls, Sunday threw the ceremonial first pitch during a Major League baseball game.

She threw the ball to open the game between the Cleveland Indians ― for which South Korea's Choo Shin-soo plays as an outfielder ― and the Minnesota Twins at Progressive Field, Cleveland. Sunye wore an Indians' jacket and shorts.

Sunye and the four other Wonder Girls' members met with Choo and his teammates before the game and danced together to the group's hit song, "Nobody.''

Choo expressed his difficulty in dancing, saying, "I'm not a good dancer,'' according to the official Web site of the Cleveland Indians.

Meanwhile, Choo was hitless in four at bats, though his team beat the Twins 3-1.

*Whatta pose! Why wear a skimpy shorts if you know that you are pitching the ball?!

Wonder Girls to Be At a Baseball Game in the U.S.

Wonder Girls, who are touring the U.S. with the Jonas Brothers as part of their opening act, will be visiting Progressive Field, home of the Cleveland Indians, on September 6 to meet Korean outfielder Choo Shin-soo. Wonder Girls’ Sunny will also throw the first pitch, and all five of them will sing a special rendition of their hit, “Nobody,” during the seventh inning stretch. There will also be an autograph session after the game.

A source at JYP Entertainment reported that Wonder Girls are very excited to meet Choo in Cleveland. The girls thanked the team and Choo for what is certain to be an unforgettable experience. In a promotional video shot at Progressive Field the members cheer on the Korean slugger by shouting, “We want nobody, nobody, but Choo!”
