My "Ondoy" Experience

I was about to leave last Saturday morning when I noticed that the rains has not stopped since the night before. Luckily, I trusted my intuition and followed the small voice that I should not leave house since there was a storm as predicted by the local weather bureau.

Shortly while I was blogging, there was flood in front of the street trying to enter our house! It was unimaginable as we live in a mountainous part of the east of Metro Manila! We hurriedly moved our things that might get wet and I was right! Water was getting inside our house as we all panicked.

From our living room down to the basement ( our place is situated on a slope) where my brother's room is.

These are just 2 of the pictures I took. Thank God my Family is safe!

Hollywood stars called on their fellow Americans to help the victims of tropical storm Ondoy (international codename Ketsana) in the Philippines as they expressed their sympathies to the thousands of Filipinos affected .

Hollywood star Demi Moore wrote in her Twitter account that the Filipino victims are in dire need of assistance. To help, she urged them to call the American Red Cross.

“Typhoon victims in Philippines in dire need of food/clothing. Call the American Red Cross to help. 18004357669,” the multi-awarded star wrote.

Alyssa Milano tweeted the same message and posted an Associated Press article reporting the devastation caused by Ondoy.

China pledges $10,000 to Ondoy Victims

The Chinese government was one of the first countries who were generous to donate to Ondoy typhoon victims and they pledged $10,000 to victims of a devastating tropical storm that killed almost 100 people and displaced hundreds of thousands according to the Armed Forces of the Philippines.

Chinese Ambassador to the Philippines Liu Jianchao said the fund will be channeled to the Philippine National Red Cross.

Up to this day, rescue operations started on Sunday as the storm left the country. Hundreds were believed to remain stranded in half-submerged villages and towns near the national capital region. Yours truly was lucky enough that I did not leave the house that day or I am in deep trouble. Thank God!

To the people and the Government of China, on behalf of the Filipinos all over the world - Thank you!
